Once again the best part of the BET Hip Hop Awards show was the cipher segments. I'm so happy they included that segment into the awards show. The cipher is a key ingredient in the hip hop culture. I remember when I was younger being excited to see the hottest freestylers on the block or in school. Once that circle was formed it became that freestyler's makeshift stage. The freestyle battles were harmless battles of talented street poets. Back to the BET ciphers tho, I will have to say the cipher with Yelawolf, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9 and Eminem was by far the illest 8:43 minutes worth of lyricism by hip hop artists I heard in a very long time. Each artist flipped so many ill metaphors, with a variety of flows. I still don't know who had the best verse out of them all. I'm still very excited about those 8 minutes they blessed us with!! Check it out!!!!
