I don't usually care for the whole Grammy awards ceremony, but when I found out Nas album "Life Is Good" was nominated for rap album of the year, I thought for sure he would win. I
looked at who Nas album was up against : Drake's "Take Care" album, Rick Ross "God Forgives, I Don't", 2 Chainz "Based on a T.R.U. Story", Lupe Fiasco "Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1". I just thought along with Nas album he had interesting stories attached to it. On this album Nas opened up letting his fans into his personal life for the first time ever by having songs about his divorce and touching on his issues with his daughter. Plus the album is considered a classic. Not many rappers with the longevity as Nas could have released such a excellent album. The Grammy went to Drake and I feel like, shit Drake going to be popular for awhile but Nas is the legend who released a standout album who probably won't ever get another Grammy nomination. But I guess I should have woken up from that dream of mines with Nas a Hip Hop Legend winning his first Grammy. Drake the part-time R&B singer is not even hip hop to me. Nas was truly due for a Grammy, his music catalog says it all. But when it comes to pop culture Nas will forever be the underdog, I just got caught up in the hype. Hopefully when Nas decides to retire he will be greatly honored.
